It’s been awhile… but we’re taking another road trip
Well. We really didn’t intend to wait quite so long to go on another road trip, but it’s been a rather eventful few years to say the least. First there was the pandemic. You remember that, I’m sure. Not much to say about it except to be thankful we survived…
Today’s the day
Work is done for the year, we’ve packed basically half the house and we’re ready to roll. Next stop Rocky Mount North Carolina (I don’t know who I’m kidding, we’re going to stop 12 times between NJ and our hotel!) 🤣
Day 2: Rocky Mount to Jacksonville
Day 3: Jacksonville to Pompano Beach
Day 4: Pompano Beach
Day 5: Pompano Beach to Cocoa Beach
Day 7: Cocoa Beach to Charleston
Not much to say today, except yay! we aren’t in Florida any more. We are definitely NOT fans of the Sunshine State, and we can say categorically we are never moving there no matter how old and decrepit we are. About the only notable thing that happened today was when…
Day 8: Charleston
Day 9: Charleston Take Two
Day 10: Charleston to White Sulfur Springs

Day 11: New River Gorge
Day 12: New River Gorge Part 2
Day 13: White Sulfur Springs to Harper’s Ferry
We had another long-ish day of driving. We took the scenic route rather than the interstates, and it was quite pretty driving through the mountains. There was only one twisting mountain road today, thankfully. We took a brief detour to the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, which turned out to…
Day 14: Harper’s Ferry
After a lovely breakfast at our hotel, we drove over to the Harper’s Ferry National Park. We got in a short (not very interesting) hike from the visitor’s center to the Lower Town, then wandered around the historical buildings for a while. It’s certainly a beautiful spot, where the Shenandoah…
Day 15: Home
It was really nice to get home yesterday. Road trips are fun but after a while, you just want your own bed. We covered 11 states, and just a hair under 3400 miles. We’ve both concluded we’re never driving to Florida again because it’s just a seriously boring drive. 95…
