Day 14: Harper’s Ferry

After a lovely breakfast at our hotel, we drove over to the Harper’s Ferry National Park. We got in a short (not very interesting) hike from the visitor’s center to the Lower Town, then wandered around the historical buildings for a while. It’s certainly a beautiful spot, where the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers meet. And the town has had plenty of ups and downs during its history.

It was pretty cool to see this sign. Apparently the Appalachian Trail goes straight through Harper’s Ferry.

After lunch at Snallygaster’s Cafe – the name was by far the best part – we drove to Winchester to see what the town was like. We walked through the ‘Old Town’, which wasn’t all that great but at least we got another walk in.

We’re both looking forward to getting home tomorrow.
