Day 2: Quebec City

We had a nice day walking around Quebec today. Our day started at one of the city’s more famous boulangeries, where we totally pigged out on croissants – and oh my, that was definitely worth the pound of butter we probably ate.

Walking back to the hotel we realized it looks a lot like Hogwarts:

We’re really loving the mix of old and new architecture. And we’ve been finding some really fun street art as well:

Then we walked up to the Citadel, which is the fort that protected Quebec. We were a little appalled to realize that the Americans actually attacked Quebec twice – back in 1775, but somehow that made us feel sort of like we should apologize.

After a tour of the Citadel museum (slightly depressing – it was all about the wars the regiment that’s still housed at the fort have fought in), we walked back down the hill and took the funicular down to the lower part of old Quebec:

After some lunch we went to the Musee de la Civilization, which was not at all what we were expecting. It was a really, really strange mix of exhibits, and somewhat disappointing in the end.

For those of you who don’t know, we had our 30th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago, and we decided to wait to celebrate until tonight. So to my husband, I love you always, I’m so glad you’ve been in my life for all this time. I hope we get another 30 years together.
