It was another long day in the car. Definitely not as bad as yesterday, since we really didn’t hit any traffic.
We stopped for lunch at Lake Marion in South Carolina, and had a picnic overlooking the lake. Walking over to the picnic table, we saw an armadillo. We’ve never seen one of those before; I know they’re considered pests but he was awfully cute.
It was quite lovely until Jon found out that there are more alligators in Lake Marion than anywhere else in SC – he ate his sandwich with his head on a swivel in case we were randomly attacked.
Which turns out could actually have happened, except it wouldn’t have been an alligator, it would have been a vulture:
We had to google this, and it turns out it’s true, vultures like to peck at the rubber bits on cars. Who knew?
We got to Georgia, and just had to stop at ‘Georgia Peach World’. We had a little trouble getting in the door, because it was blocked by the fattest chicken I have ever seen.
But the goats were pretty cute.
Tomorrow we’re off to Pompano Beach, where my mom lives. Thankfully it’s a shorter drive.
