Day 3: Sydney to Cape Anguille

Today was ferry day. We were both a little nervous, because honestly, neither of us likes boats at all. Fortunately, the day was very calm, and the ferry itself is ginormous:

It was fun leaving, but the actual ferry ride was pretty boring. We took a walk out on deck about halfway, and you could actually see both Cape Breton and Newfoundland in the distance at the same time, which was cool. Eventually we arrived at Port-aux-Basques:

We were like the fourth car off the ferry, which was great. As soon as we left the terminal and hit the road, we saw this sign:

Well, okay then.

We drove up the coast about a half hour. It was quite pretty – probably because it’s pretty empty of people.

Our B&B tonight is a lighthouse. It really works and everything, although hopefully the foghorn won’t go off in the middle of the night.

This is the view from our room:

It was too cloudy to see the sunset, which was too bad, but we took a cold, windy walk along the beach after dinner, and off to bed.

  1. That ferry looks like a small cruise ship, haha. Nothing like what I pictured it to look like! Sooo pretty though! 🙂
