Day 8: Norris Point to Quirpon

Today ended up being another long day of driving, to end up basically at the end of the world.

We left Norris Point where we’d been staying in Gros Morne, and set out north, with the Gulf of St. Lawrence on our right. We stopped in Cow Head (which is the northern end of Gros Morne Park), because, well, it’s called Cow Head. We drove out to the point, and decided to take a short hike along Lighthouse Trail. This turned out to be the most disappointing lighthouse possibly ever, but I did get a good pic of a seagull that posed just for me:

Continuing on, we stopped at The Arches Provincial Park, which was really cool. These arches were cut into the limestone by the water:

We stopped in Port au Choix for lunch, and saw another caribou on our way back to the highway:

He looked at us like he couldn’t imagine what on earth we were doing there.

At Blue Cove, we saw our first iceberg.

It wasn’t very big, but we weren’t expecting it to be so blue. From there, we just keep seeing them in the water. When we finally got to our B&B in Quirpon we can see a ton of them in the bay, which is the view from our room.

These are all little ones which clearly have floated here on the current. Can’t wait to see some big ones, hopefully tomorrow.
